Presenters:
Ed McBrayer,
Executive Director, PATH Foundation and
Carlos Perez,
RLA, MCRP, urban designer and planner
Topic:
Integrating physical activity into daily life is a critical and necessary component of a healthy lifestyle. Regular physical activity reduces the occurrence of chronic diseases and obesity. If places and opportunities for physical activity are built in close proximity to where individuals live and work, then exercise can more easily become a part of everyday life.
For over 20 years, Ed McBrayer has lead the PATH Foundation in a mission to build multi-use trails. Please join us for the next HPRG meeting where he will share the story of a current project: the PATH 400 Greenway Trail. A collaboration between the PATH Foundation, Livable Buckhead, and the Buckhead CID, this trail demonstrates how effective partnerships and leadership can result in a funded and successful trail project. Our speakers will describe the funding, partnerships, and design that together allowed this project to move quickly from project conception to construction and will thus provide a new opportunity for physical activity. The construction of this project, along with multi-use trail projects completed by the PATH Foundation and others, have created a growing network of connected trails in the Atlanta region and beyond.
Ed McBrayer is the Executive Director of the PATH Foundation and has been working for over twenty years to build trails in the Atlanta region and statewide. Ed will be discussing the funding, partnerships, and construction process for the PATH 400 trail.
Carlos Perez is a Landscape Architect and an urban planner and designer who has worked closely with the PATH Foundation to assist with the design of both the trail itself and the connections between the trail and the surrounding neighborhoods along the trail.
