The Georgia Tech men's intramural (IM) team defeated Columbus State by a score of 46-40 to capture the 2014 National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) men's intramural championship.
While the Single A All-Stars from Tech found themselves comfortably in the lead for most of the game, including a 14-point lead at halftime, the Running Cougs of Columbus State clawed their way back in to the game and cut Tech's lead to within two points late in the second half.
Ultimately, Georgia Tech's first-half onslaught of offense was enough to sting Columbus State's chance at a comeback win, as the Single A All-Stars go home national champions.
Tech's David Spain was named the tournament MVP, and Matthew Smith was named to the all tournament team.
