Professor Valerie Thomas from the School of Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISyE) will be our next speaker in the Policy@Tech Speakers Series.  Her presentation will take place on Wednesday, March 26, from 11 a.m. to noon, in the Ferst Room (7th Floor) of the Georgia Tech Library.  Prof. Thomas will share her experiences as a Science Advisor for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and as a Congressional Science Fellow in Congress.

 

Dr. Valerie Thomas is the Anderson Interface Associate Professor of Natural Systems in the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, with a joint appointment in the School of Public Policy. Her research interests are energy and materials efficiency, sustainability, industrial ecology, technology assessment, international security, and science and technology policy. Current research projects include the environmental impacts of biofuels and electricity system policy and planning.  Among her appointments, Prof. Thomas was the American Physical Society Congressional Science Fellow in 2004-2005, a Member of the U.S. EPA Science Advisory Board from 2003 to 2009, and is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and of the American Physical Society.
