In the magazine’s prestigious listings, the College moved up to No. 9 from its No. 10 rating in the previous rankings from 2011.
“We are making great strides in research, innovation and teaching, and the latest rankings demonstrate that,” said College of Computing Dean Zvi Galil. “Our showing this year is testament to the hard work of our faculty, research scientists and staff as well as to the dedication of our students, especially those who continue their post-graduate work here.”
In addition to its No. 9 rating, the College also scored Top 10 ratings in three of four graduate-level specialties. Its Artificial Intelligence work moved up one ranking from 2010 to No. 6 for 2014, while Systems moved up two spots to No. 6. The Theory group dropped one spot from its previous ranking to No. 8 on the current listing.
Lance Fortnow, chair of the School of Computer Science said: "The large jump in rankings for systems at Georgia Tech reflects the growing importance of our Center for Experimental Research in Computing Systems and its groundbreaking research on multicore, cloud and embedded computing."
