Summaries

Summary Sentence: Making A Difference In The Classroom: What Works?

Full Summary: What helps students in a rigorous academic environment master course content?  What makes students want to go beyond what's required and learn for themselves?  How can faculty create a "healthy" learning climate?

Research on effective teaching in higher education highlights multiple approaches to success in the classroom.  But when it comes to learning, what really matters?  What helps students in a rigorous academic environment master course content?  What makes students want to go beyond what’s required and learn for themselves?  How can faculty create a "healthy" learning climate that doesn't involve spoon-feeding?

Building on the Thank a Teacher notes that Georgia Tech students submitted last semester, this session will explore specific strategies that our students say have a powerful impact on their learning.  Come hear from your colleagues about what is working in their classrooms and share your experiences as well.
