Seminar Title: SMACT (Social Networks, Mobile Platforms and Apps, Advanced Analytics and Big Data, Cloud Computing, and the “Internet of Things”): Opportunities for Business Innovation
Abstract:
This seminar will outline what and where the next phase of innovation is occurring in the evolution of the Internet, specifically SMACT - the convergence of Social Networks, Mobile Platforms and Apps, Advanced Analytics and Big Data, Cloud Computing, and the Internet of Things. Some of the emerging opportunities will be presented along with the skills sets necessary to effectively participate in this exciting arena. Students will be encouraged to consider starting their own companies in this area or any other area and or working for other companies focused in this area.

Biographical Sketch of the Speaker:             
Chris Kwabi is the founder of Nomadic Exchange, LLC a cloud-computing service delivery platform designed to facilitate the connectivity and interoperability of connected devices and services and ultimately to serve as the “Operating System of the Connected Society”.
With over 25 years of experience working in the high tech industry in a career that features both industry giants such as AT&T Labs/Bell Labs as well as innovative startups, he has been an active participant in the technology revolution that has completely transformed society in the last two decades; from cell phones to smart phones and tablets to connected apps to social networking to cloud computing, and to Big Data.  He is the holder of several patents and his current interests include start-ups and the application of emerging web based technologies in forward-looking technology ventures.
Chris has a M.S. in Computer Science from NYU. He is also a graduate of the dual-degree engineering program offered by Morehouse College and the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. He has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Applied Physics from Morehouse College.
