A great artist can come from anywhere, even a top technology and research university. Georgia Tech students have proved just that by showcasing their creativity at the Clough Art Crawl, a student-only art exhibition.

From now until January 27, students of all media (photography, painting, drawing, music, poetry & spoken word, etc.) are invited to enter their work to be featured in this year’s event, which will take place on February 13 from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. throughout the Clough Commons. All art will remain on display until March 15. Students can submit online at art.clough.gatech.edu.

“The [Art] Crawl takes a very STEM-oriented, techy student and puts them in an artistic context,” said Alex Duncan, Computer Engineering major and 2013 Poetry/Prose/Spoken Word winner.

With more than 300 submissions from a diverse range of majors at last year’s event, the Art Crawl is an annual opportunity for every Tech student a chance to show off their talents. All artists are eligible to win one of the eight cash prizes awarded for best work in a category and a People's Choice award. Art Crawl guests can vote for their favorite overall piece during the event to determine the People's Choice winner.

“I think it’s good to get people out of their little bubbles every now and then,” Duncan added. “You never know what they’ll create or pick up and bring back to the STEM field.”

A group of six professors and working artists from the Atlanta community will jury art. Prizes are is $100.

The seven, juried categories are as follows:

  1. Drawing/Painting
  2. Photography
  3. Film/Video/Digital Media (Graphic Arts/Coded-Art)
  4. Music/Performing Arts (Recorded)
  5. Music/Performing Arts (Live)
