This physical workshop is designed as a collaborative space between the fields Dance/Theater, Architecture, Media, to investigate the notions of movement and space, and how they materialize in each respective field. The workshop and instructions simultaneously place the students at the threshold of the physically experiential and their surrounding spatial environments. Jonah Bokaer provides a 90-minute workshop in movement for mixed levels, custom-arranged specifically for the students who choose to enroll.
The class focuses on a 25-minute warmup including stretching and strengthening of the dancer’s torso in a contemporary manner, followed by a 25-minute warmup of the legs. This is followed by 40 minutes of phrasework, on a large theatre stage. The class is characterized as having a focus on clarity and articulation, with an emphasis on greater physical embodiment.
To reserve your place for this class, email Residency Coordinator, Jennifer Kimball, at jenbkimball@gmail.com, by 1pm on Monday, January 13.
