There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

Title: Molecular Tools for Genomic Discovery
Abstract: We develop and apply new molecular tools to characterize DNA, RNA and proteins. We recently developed a new method to identify modified nucleobases in genomic DNA. Using the method, we found that variability in uracil content is correlated with replication timing, and that specific classes of UV-induced pyrimidine dimers are present in modification hot spots. We also developed a new method to identify a previously "invisible" class of RNAs, and have used to method to identify RNA products of endonuclease cleavage associated with viral infection and the unfolded protein response.
