John Krige, Kranzerg professor and director of graduate studies in the School of History, Technology, and Society, inaugurated the SISTEM-SPHERE conference, a new initiative to promote interaction and research in the domain of Science and Technology Studies in the Chennai area.
SISTEM-SPHERE (Studies on Indian Science, Technology, Environment and Medicine : Socio-Philosophical, Historico-Economic Research Explorations)aims to promote studies and research in the region in History, Philosophy and Sociology of Science, Technology, Environment and Medicine by creating awareness, interest and discussion among the local academic community through these seminars.
Krige's research focuses on the intersection between support for science and technology and the foreign policies of governments.
