There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. The Office of the Provost and the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL) invite you to participate in GTREET, a biannual event that brings faculty together to explore innovative ways to improve student learning.
This year's event will focus on creating a better environment for learning in our classes.
Dr. James M. Lang, noted author and columnist in the Chronicle of Higher Education, will lead GTREET participants in a discussion of how to structure the learning environment in our classes to foster deeper and more enduring learning. He will draw upon research from cognitive theory and brain science to identify instructional practices that help students remember information more effectively and acquire richer knowledge networks.
In addition, Georgia Tech faculty will share specific strategies they are using to create an environment for learning in their classes. Bring your challenges and prepare to work with your colleagues on effective ways to address them.
Transportation note: The Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter at Ravinia offers a shuttle service from the Dunwoody Station on the North Springs Line to the hotel. To request pick-up, guests may call the hotel directly at 770-395-7700.
