Dr. Shatakshee Dhongde organized a session on Multidimensional Deprivation at the 83rd meeting of the Southern Economic Association which was held in Tampa, Florida, from November 23-25, 2013. The Southern Economic Association is one of the oldest regional economics associations in the U.S. Participants in the session on multidimensional deprivation included Dr. Seth from the Oxford University, UK, Dr. Silber from the Bar Ilan University, Israel, and Dr. Xu from the Georgia State University, U.S. The main theme of the discussion was how to measure and compare standards of living across countries using data on non-income indicators such as education, and health. Dr. Dhongde presented her research on estimating multidimensional poverty levels in the U.S.
