The University System of Georgia is continuing to recognize the good, healthy habits of employees. Individuals enrolled in a medical plan who are not tobacco users can avoid a $50/month tobacco surcharge. During open enrollment, simply certify that you are not a tobacco user, and the $50 monthly surcharge will not be added to your premium.
Now is a great time to think about quitting if you do use tobacco. Georgia Tech partners with a number of groups such as the American Cancer Society (1-800-ACS-2345 or cancer.org) and the Georgia Tobacco Quitline (1-877-270-STOP) to help individuals stop using tobacco.
Open enrollment ends on Nov. 22. For more information about the 2014 benefit plans, visit www.ohr.gatech.edu/openenrollment. You may also call 404-894-GTHR (4847) to speak to a representative about any open enrollment questions.
