Continuing its tradition of support, the Campus Recreation Center (CRC) went Pink for the entire month of October to help raise awareness for breast cancer. Research shows that exercise is likely to reduce the risk of breast cancer in women of all ages and may cut risks by 30 percent in those at a normal-weight.

Naturally, the CRC worked to get the word out about Breast Cancer Awareness by promoting all types of exercise. This past month, more than 200 participants participated in the Cardio-Fitness Challenge and exercised in memory, honor and support of people with breast cancer. Pink participants reached a total time of 92,389 minutes!

Even though the challenge has ended, the CRC still encourages people to take the next step in supporting Breast Cancer Research by donating to national foundations such as:

  • The National Breast Cancer Foundation,
  • The Avon Foundation,
  • The American Cancer Society, and
  • The Susan G Komen Foundation.

To donate, visit any of these foundations’ websites. Every donation helps get one step closer to a cancer-free future.

Thank you to everyone who participated and made this year’s Cardio-Fitness Challenge such a great success!
