The 2014 TechArts Festival, a two-week event slated for February 13-March 1, 2014, seeks proposals from students, faculty and staff interested in participating in this annual celebration of the arts at Georgia Tech.  “The TechArts Festival is a singular event designed to celebrate the creative arts spirit on campus. It is designed as an annual showcase for the music, dance, theatre, literary arts and visual/digital media arts that not only flourish in the midst of our technological university, but also inspire and reflect both research and education,” says Aaron Bobick, Chair of the Georgia Tech Council of the Arts.

The Festival will feature a variety of arts experiences at venues across campus. The work can be independently produced by students, faculty and staff affiliated with Georgia Tech or produced as part of an academic or research project. Projects can showcase the convergence of art and science/technology, or be solely artistic in nature.

Exhibit proposals can be submitted at http://arts.gatech.edu/content/techarts-exhibition and performance proposals at http://arts.gatech.edu/content/techarts-performance. The deadline for submissions is January 10, 2014.

The 2014 Festival coincides with the annual Margaret Guthman Musical Instrument Competition. Events already scheduled for the festival include the opening of Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons’ annual student Art Crawl, DramaTech’s Black Box Comedy Festival, concerts by the Georgia Tech School of Music’s jazz ensemble and symphonic band and performances from the Ferst Center Presents professional artist series including Pat Metheny Unity Group and the Carolina Chocolate Drops.

The Festival is sponsored by the Office of the Provost, the Council of the Arts and the Office of the Arts.  The annual event is open to the campus and the Atlanta community.
