At the fall business meeting on October 31, 2013, Region Two of the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) elected Assistant Professor Javier Irizarry as director of Region Two.  During his three-year term as director, Irizarry will serve on the Board of Directors of the ASC at the national level and will lead Region Two in all regional business including supporting new member programs, promoting membership, and organizing the Annual Student Competition and Faculty Conference.

The Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) is the professional association for the development and advancement of construction education, where the sharing of ideas and knowledge inspires, guides and promotes excellence in curricula, teaching, research and service. Region Two of the ASC includes 17 of the top universities in the southeastern United States. For information about the ASC, visit ascweb.org.

Javier Irizarry is an assistant professor in the School of Building Construction and director of the CONECTech Lab at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His research is focused on mobile computing in construction, human factors, construction safety, IT applications in AEC education and practice, and unmanned aerial systems in AEC. He teaches graduate-level courses in virtual construction operations analysis and sustainable sonstruction technologies and serves as the graduate coordinator for the Residential Construction Development Track in the master’s program in the School of Building Construction at Georgia Tech.
