Full Summary: Soloists from the Orchestre National de Lorraine (ONL) from Metz, France along with Sonic Generator, the comtemporary music ensemble-in-residence at Georgia Tech, will join forces for a comtemporary music concert in Atlanta under the direction of ONL's music director Jacques Mercier and reciprocal concert in Metz, France in February 2014. This exchange is made possible thanks to the generous support of Prélude, Metz, Metz Métropole, Vesperien, Jeunes Talents, Arsenal, Georgia Tech and the French-American Fund for Comtemporary Music, a program of FACE with major support from the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, SACEM, Institut Francais, the Florence Gould Foundation, and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Under the direction of ONL’s music director Jacques Mercier, this transatlantic collaboration will present innovative French and American contemporary music, featuring Steve Reich’s City Life, a seminal work that uses digital samplers to bring the sounds of New York City into the concert hall. 

Following this Atlanta concert, presented by Georgia Tech* as part of France-Atlanta 2013, Sonic Generator and ONL will give a reciprocal concert at the Arsenal de Metz in France in February 2014.
