The Georgia Tech chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architecture Students participated in the annual NOMA student design competition in Indianapolis on October 6, 2013. Grad students Ai-Lien Vuong and Namrata Dani and undergraduate students Gloria Woods, Linda Ortiz and Victoria Acevedo made up the competition team. Graduate student Audrey Plummer and recent COA alum Vee Hu also attended the conference. The competition asked participants to propose a design to develop a 20-acre brownfield in a distressed neighborhood in Indianapolis. There was also a transit component as Indianapolis was proposing a light rail stop on the site.
While the gtNOMAs team did not place, they had a great time at the conference and learned a lot about teamwork and producing a good project under a deadline.
