About the speaker:
Joel Garreau is the Lincoln Professor of Law, Culture and Values at Arizona State University. His core appointments are in the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law and the Lincoln Center for Applied Ethics. In addition, he is affiliated with over a dozen centers and initiatives all aimed at bringing crossdisciplinary creativity to his main area of focus: technology’s impact on culture, values and society.
A former long-time reporter and editor for The Washington Post, he has served as a fellow at the University of Cambridge, the University of California at Berkeley and George Mason University, and as an affiliate of the University of Oxford's James Martin 21st Century School.
Joel is most recently the author of “Radical Evolution: The Promise and Peril of Enhancing Our Minds, Our Bodies – and What It Means to Be Human."
About the Forum:
The George H. and Faye C. Sparks Forum is supported by the Sparks Endowment of the GT Foundation. The Forum provides an opportunity to examine the ethical dimensions of engineering practice, including the application of ethical principles to professional decisionmaking.
