Student Foundation aims to educate campus about the philanthropists that have helped Georgia Tech grow.
Philanthropy at Tech - French BuildingThis week, new signage will appear on campus to highlight the places and spaces that would not have been possible without philanthropic support to the Institute.
To celebrate the benefits students enjoy thanks to generous Tech alumni and donors, the Georgia Tech Student Foundation (GTSF) is dedicating a week to Philanthropy at Tech.
“We realized that many students aren’t aware how much private philanthropy has contributed to our Institute, and the impact it makes on our educational experience,” said Matt Jacobson, a business administration major and member of GTSF.
More than 70 signs are being installed that tell donors’ stories and how they are connected to Georgia Tech. On Friday, Sept. 20, students will have the opportunity to meet some of the faces of philanthropy featured on the new campus signage. From 2-3 p.m., John and Mary Brock, namesakes of Georgia Tech’s indoor football practice facility, will be on Tech Green with more than 25 other alumni philanthropists to meet and talk with students, as well as faculty and staff. Attendees can RSVP online.
Ultimately, GTSF hopes to inspire students to support its mission of “moving Georgia Tech forward by giving back” and to express gratitude toward Tech philanthropists.
