There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Who should attend this Workshop?
A:  The OSP RCR Workshop is intended for doctoral students admitted prior to Fall 2011, master’s students, undergraduate students, and postdoctoral researchers who are or have been funded by NSF or NIH projects that have a Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Training Compliance requirement**.

Q:  Why should I attend this Workshop?
A:  The GT RCR Compliance Policy requires students and postdocs funded by certain NSF or NIH projects** to complete in-person RCR training.  This training is a condition of the award and is a GT deliverable.

Q:  How much RCR in-person "credit" will I receive?

A:  Each of these workshop sessions satisfies one hour of the requirement **.  Applicable students and postdocs who are unable to complete the entire four hour workshop may attend individual one hour sessions.  However, they must accumulate the remaining in-person training hours through other institutional approved means as specified by the GT RCR Compliance Policy.

Q:  What about doctoral students admitted Fall 2011 or later?

A:   This workshop does NOT satisfy the in-person training requirement of the GT RCR Academic Policy which applies to all new doctoral students admitted Fall 2011 or later.  If a current doctoral student has already satisfied the requirements of the RCR Academic Policy for Doctoral Students (e.g., attended PHIL 6000), then further in-person RCR training is not required.

For more information, contact Judy Willis (judy.willis@gatech.edu) or Jason Borenstein (borenstein@gatech.edu) or see the GT RCR website.

** Applicable NSF projects require 4 hours of in-person training; applicable NIH projects require 8 hours.  (Applicable projects are flagged with the RCR/Ethics Training requirement in the OSP Contract Information System.)
