Information meeting of Georgia Tech - Tongji Exchange Program (12:30 -1PM)

MSUD and Dual Degree of MCRP + MArch Program (1-1:30PM)

Tongji Exchange Program. The Tongji-Georgia Tech Exchange Program enables M.Arch and MCRP students to earn a degree in one year at each other’s institutions and prepare for global practice. GT M.Arch students pay GT tuition while attending Tongji University in Shanghai for one year and obtain an accredited M.Arch from China. Similarly, GT MCRP students receive a MUP degree from China in one year at Tongji. In exchange, Tongji M.Arch or MUP students pay Tongji tuition while attending Georgia Tech in the Master of Science in Urban Design (MSUD) program.  GT students at Tongji also have the opportunity to participate in paid internships working on contemporary projects. Tongji University’s College of Architecture and Urban Planning has been ranked as the top school in China.

Master of Science in Urban Design: MSUD. The MSUD is a post-professional studio-focused degree program for acquisition of the skills of a practicing urban designer. A prior professional degree is required in either Architecture (B.ARCH or M.ARCH), Landscape Architecture (BLA or MLA), City and Regional Planning (MCRP or equivalent) or Civil Engineering (BSCE). The ability to draw plans and places is necessary and assessed through portfolio submission. The MSUD is intended to be a twelve-month program with Fall and Spring semesters in Atlanta plus an international summer travel semester.

Dual Degree of MCRP + MArch Program. The Dual Degree, resulting in the M.ARCH and MCRP Degrees, focusing on Urban Design has been an active program in the College of Architecture since 1969. The dual MCRP and M.Arch degree seeks to educate those who wish to engage directly in the process of city building. The program is intended to meet the needs of planning agencies, consultants, institutions, and architectural firms for graduates who can deal competently with the design complexities and dynamics of urban settings. Dual degree graduates would extend their capacity of professional practices to both fields. The curriculum is comprised of the core requirements for each of the two professional programs and, in addition, a set of dual requirements that focus upon urban design as a common ground linking the theory and practice of the two disciplines. While most students will elect to follow the urban design concentration, other concentration areas are possible, subject to the approval of both schools.
