Georgia Tech's administration and affluent donors have always had a large influence on the development of the City of Atlanta. More and more, however, it is the students who have begun to have a major impact on the way the City is growing. Atlanta's BeltLine project grew out of Ryan Gravel's (MCP/MArch '99) master thesis and Marshall Willis' (MCRP '11) applied research paper on parking fees is now a serious option to fund street improvements.
