“Please don’t make me wear a UGA t-shirt for an entire day,” said Emergency Preparedness Director Andy Altizer.  Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia emergency preparedness offices have waged a friendly contest to see who can get the most people to “like” their Facebook pages and follow then on Twitter.  The losing emergency preparedness director will have to wear the other school’s shirt for an entire day!  Each week, Georgia Tech’s Emergency Preparedness office will also randomly select one person who “likes” the Georgia Tech Emergency Preparedness Facebook page to receive one of the following prizes:  1) two tickets to the Braves versus Padres on Sept. 15; 2) two tickets to see Diavolo perform at the Ferst Center on September 20; 3) Starbucks Gift Card; 4) two tickets to the Georgia Aquarium; 5) two tickets to the GT versus Syracuse game on Oct. 19, including a tailgate package with beer (root beer, that is).

Visit the Georgia Tech Office of Emergency Preparedness social media sites and support us in this competition!

Take time this month to think about your preparedness.  You can take simple steps, like updating your emergency supply kit, reviewing your emergency plans and identifying the shelter-in-place areas in your building.  The Georgia Tech Office of Emergency Preparedness is offering the following opportunities to help you prepare:

  • Sign up for the Georgia Tech Emergency Notification System (GTENS) through Passport.  All of the Georgia Tech emergency notification systems, including GTENS, will be tested on September 5 at 11:00 am.
  • Campus Emergency Response Team (GT-CERT) training kicks off on September 17.  Click here for more information and registration details.  GT-CERT Registration
