***TRAINING ANNOUCEMENT***

September is National Preparedness Month.  What an excellent time to start the Campus Emergency Response Team (CERT) training!

Classes begin Sept. 17 and conclude Nov. 7 in the Campus Recreation Center.

CERT is about readiness, people helping people, rescuer safety and doing the greatest good for the greatest number. CERT is a positive and realistic approach to emergency and disaster situations where citizens will be initially on their own and their actions can make a difference. Through training, citizens can manage utilities and put out small fires; treat the three killers by opening airways, controlling bleeding, and treating for shock; provide basic medical aid; search for and rescue victims safely and organize themselves and spontaneous volunteers to be effective.

To better accommodate students and other campus community members, we will begin offering two 90 minute classes each week beginning in September. Each class will be identical to better accommodate schedules; in other words, participants will only need to attend one class each week.

Contact Frank Stanley if interested in attending at frank.stanley@police.gatech.edu.
