An E.U.-U.S. Transportation Research Symposium on City Logistics Research was held from May 30-31 at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C. The invitation-only Symposium was organized by the European Commission, the Research and Innovative Technology Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies. The planning committee was composed of four U.S. and four E.U. researchers and included Chelsea C. White III, Schneider Chair of Freight Transportation and Logistics for the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE.) ISyE Professor Alan Erera, who was one of the 25 U.S. invitees, also attended the Symposium.
