Summaries

Summary Sentence: Hosted on Tech's campus, this is an opportunity for all students to meet Tech's biggest philanthropists.

Full Summary: From 2:00 - 3:30 PM on September 20th, students will be invited to attend Philanthropy at Tech on the Tech Green. This event will be a culmination of the Philanthropy at Tech campaign, aiming to introduce students and members of Tech's campus to many of Georgia Tech's biggest donors. Featuring John and Mary Brock speaking, this open event will consist of a short program followed by a period for meet-and-greet, including light refreshments. All of Tech's campus is invited to join in a celebration of the incredible amounts of philanthropy on our campus.

Over the past few years, the Georgia Tech Student Foundation (GTSF) has noticed an exponential increase in excitement among our peers about philanthropy at Georgia Tech. However, many students still do not realize the extent and impact of philanthropy that goes into Georgia Tech to make it the Institute we have all grown to love. Therefore, GTSF conceived Philanthropy at Tech.

Through strategically placed signage during the week as well as this celebration, we hope to educate students on the importance and impact of philanthropic giving and imbue in them a sense of responsibility and motivation to give back to the campus that allows them so many opportunities. This week-ending celebration, located in the heart of Tech's campus, is intended to connect students with top philanthropists and add a personal aspect to the campaign. John & Mary Brock will be speaking, and the Institute's top donors and endowed chairs have been invited to attend. Students will have the opportunity to learn more about the Brocks' story as well as interact with many prominent figures in the Tech community that have helped shape this campus, both in its cityscape and academic distinction.

The event will take place from 2:00 - 3:30 PM on Tech Green on Friday, September 20th. A tent will be set up on Tech Green where students can mingle with attendees, and Rita's Italian Ice and gourment popcorn will be provided for everyone's enjoyment. We hope to see everyone out there!
