GT-1000INT is designed for freshman who have lived and received most of their education outside of the U.S. In addition to the GT curriculum, this section will afford opportunities to students to learn strategies that will help them succeed in an American academic environment. Students will grow in their understanding of cross-cultural realities, their ability to understand the expectations that both professors and international students have for the other and how to effectively manage differences. About the Instructor: Marisa Atencio is the Director of International Student & Scholar Services in the Office of International Education. She earned a Master of Education degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Georgia. She has worked with international students and scholars for over 10 years and has extensive professional and personal experience navigating cultural differences successfully.
