Artist Bio:
Doug Schatz has an undergraduate degree in art and geology from Skidmore College, and received an MFA in sculpture from the University of Kentucky in 1999. He has been an art educator in sculpture Since 1999. Schatz has taught at Middle Tennessee State University, Watkins College of Art and Design, and currently teaches at the State University of New York in Potsdam, NY.
Since 2004 he has competed in snow carving at the state and national level. Schatz's sculpture teams have won the state competition and for the last 4 years have represented New York State in the National Snow Carving Championships in Lake Geneva WI.
Doug has been organizing and participating in art groups and art events for the last 15 years. Currently he is on the Board of Trustees for the International Sculpture Center, publishers of Sculpture Magazine and Sculpture.org. He has exhibited sculptures nationally and internationally.
