Georgia Institute of Technology President G.P. “Bud” Peterson kicks off his annual summer tour of the state this weekend in Sea Island, Georgia.
This is the fifth annual tour for Peterson, who will travel through several cities from June 8 to 11. Stops will be made in Brunswick, Savannah, Reidsville, Statesboro, Lake Oconee, Athens and Lake Lanier.
Peterson and his wife, Valerie H. Peterson, initiated the visits in 2009 to provide an opportunity to meet face to face with alumni, students, state leaders and other friends to share updates on Georgia Tech and listen to questions and concerns.
Last year, Peterson’s summer tour included Columbus, Camilla, Pelham, Bainbridge, Jesup, Valdosta and Savannah.
In 2011, the tour visited Dalton, Rome, Carrolton, Peachtree City, Newnan, LaGrange and Gainesville.
Stops for the 2010 tour were Young Harris, Athens, Watkinsville, Greensboro, Perry, Warner Robins, Fort Valley, Lyons, Vidalia and Albany.
Peterson visited Columbus, Macon, Savannah, Brunswick and Augusta during the first summer tour in 2009.
