Congratulations to Sgt. Ryan Borders, Sgt. Troy Walcott, Walter Warner, Officer Stephen White and Office Barry Hollar for completing the three-day Global Threat Reduction Initiative (GRI’s) Alarm Response Training in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Other members from Georgia Tech’s Office of Radiation Safety and Environmental Health and Safety completed the course along with GTPD officers.
The training focused on how to effectively respond to radiological events. Besides enhancing response skills, the course also provided an opportunity for the security forces, health and safety personnel, and other responsible parties (such as the supporting local law enforcement officers) to develop, discuss, and exercise their own tactics, techniques, procedures, and protocols used when responding to a theft and/or sabotage event involving radioactive materials of significance.
