There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

Well-Defined Copper(I) Catalysts for True Click Cycloaddition Reactions

Special Seminar

The copper(I)-catalysed selective formation of 1,4-disubstituted-1,2,3-triazoles is broadly considered as the most powerful Click reaction to date. Despite its popularity of, this cycloaddition process remains victim of its own success and only little efforts have been focused on developing efficient catalytic systems, preventing numerous applications from meeting the stringent Click criteria.

In this Seminar, our contribution to the field will be discussed with a comparison of the catalysts developed so far bearing either N-heterocyclic carbene or phosphorous ligands. Furthermore, our latest results for the more challenging reaction of azides and iodoalkynes will be presented, along with the first mechanistic study on this cycloaddition reaction.
