Colleen RiggleLast January, administrators from the University of Georgia’s College of Education, the University System of Georgia’s Vice Presidents for Student Affairs, and the University System of Georgia announced a new doctoral-level educational opportunity designed for student affairs professionals who work at an institution that does not offer post-master's education in student affairs - i.e. Georgia Tech. In addition to enabling full-time employees to access a part-time doctoral degree, the Ed.D. in Student Affairs Leadership program offers an incredible cost savings - tuition and fees are considerably less than comparable programs.
The first cohort for this newly created Student Affairs Leadership program begins this summer at UGA's Athens-campus with a one-week intensive course. Approximately, thirteen students will take classes as a cohort, in blended format, from across the USG schools. This three-year program will offer a variety of classes toward a doctorate of education. Colleen Riggle, Assistant Dean and Director of the Women's Resource Center, will be the first Georgia Tech staff member to partake in the program. "I'm excited to further my education in a way that is designed for someone who works full-time."
