There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

Title: Hybrid Storage Systems

Abstract:

Nonvolatile memories (NVM) such as Flash memory, Phase Change Memory are enabling the design of novel storage systems. These systems range from purely NVM systems to hybrid systems employing both hard disks and NVM.  The new NVM devices have different properties than hard disks and managing systems with diverse set of characteristics poses interesting challenges and opportunities. In this talk, I will present solutions for multiple architectural choices in building future Storage systems. The presented solutions include novel file systems for NVM only systems and storage management policies for hybrid storage systems.
