Tech Students Deliver at Meeting of the Minds Conference

Last month, eight undergraduate students represented Georgia Tech at the 8th annual ACC Meeting of the Minds Conference hosted by Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. The conference, which is funded in part by revenue generated from athletic events by the member institutions of the Atlantic Coast Conference, is an opportunity for selected undergraduate students to present their research and scholarship in a professional setting and meet fellow students from peer universities. Approximately 100 students attended the event from 40 different disciplines.

The following Georgia Tech students gave impressive presentations.

  • Agreen Hadadi (Biology) Elucidating the role of ERa36 in Breast Cancer Development
  • Tarrah Herrmann (Biomedical Engineering) In-Vitro Replication of Mitral Annular Calcification: Comparison of Doppler and Catheter Measured Gradients in Patient-Specific 3D Models
  • Sarah Roethel (Materials Science and Engineering) Design of Superhydrophobic Paper Surfaces with Acetylene Plasma Enhanced Etching and Deposition
  • Alisha Kasam (Mechanical Engineering) A Vector Autoregressive Model for Interpolating Missing Meteorological Data for Use in Building Simulation
  • James Schwoebel (Biomedical Engineering) Systemizing Interdisciplinary Research Collaborations through Undergraduates
  • George Johnston (Computer Science) Improving Event Clustering with Crowdsourcing
  • Benjamin Belden (History, Technology and Society) The FBI's Missed Opportunity: Sebold, Duquesne, and Nazi Espionage in America
  • Ross Granowski (Mathematics) An Elementary Exclusion Principle for Michell Trusses

The Meeting of the Minds Conference is an excellent opportunity for students to hone their presentation skills  – ones that will serve them well during and after college.
