There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Celia Pearce, associate professor in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication, will give a presentation at the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) during its current Eero Saarinen exhibit.
Pearce will read an exerpt from Meet Me at the Fair, a collection of essays on worlds fairs she co-edited.
While best known for its furniture and films, the Office of Charles and Ray Eames also made major contributions to innovation in exhibition design, particularly in world’s fairs. This talk will discuss the Eames Office’s work in worlds fair design, focusing on its thirty-year relationship with IBM and related collaborations with Eero Saarinen which resulted in several landmark projects.
Doors open at 6pm. The lecture will begin at 6:30pm.
