There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

"Coordination of Rapid Sphingolipid Responses to Heat Stress in Yeast"
Like other organisms, the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae must respond to environmental stresses with a coordinated action that involves genes, proteins and metabolites. Using computer modeling, I characterize these responses from measured metabolic time series data.

"Anti-inflammatory and Anti-atherogenic Role of BMP Receptor II in Endothelial Cells"
We found that loss of BMPRII causes endothelial inflammation and atherosclerosis by mechanisms mediated by reactive oxygen species, NFkB, and NADPH oxidases. These results suggest that BMPRII is a critical, anti-inflammatory and anti-atherogenic protein that is commonly targeted by multiple pro- and anti-atherogenic factors. BMPRII may be used as a novel diagnostic and therapeutic target in atherosclerosis.
