Dr. Daniel Castro-Lacouture, associate professor and chair in the School of Building Construction at Georgia Institute of Technology, has been selected as associate editor for the journal Automation in Construction.  Automation in Construction, a bi-monthly international journal, publishes refereed material on all aspects pertaining to the use of information technologies in design, engineering, construction technologies, and maintenance and management of constructed facilities. The scope of Automation in Construction is broad, encompassing all stages of the construction life cycle from initial planning and design, through construction of the facility, its operation and maintenance, to the eventual dismantling and recycling of buildings and engineering structures.  The journal is supported by Education in Computer Aided Architectural Design in Europe (eCAADe), International Association for Automation and Robotics in Construction (IAARC), and International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (C.I.B.)
Dr. Castro-Lacouture’s current research centers on defining and implementing performance evaluation protocols for technology innovation in the built environment, such as sustainable construction materials and alternative sources of energy. He received a BSc in Civil Engineering from Universidad de Los Andes, Colombia, in 1994, an MSc in Construction Management from The University of Reading, UK, in 1999 and a PhD from the School of Civil Engineering at Purdue University in 2003. Professor Castro-Lacouture worked as assistant professor of Construction Engineering and Management at Ohio University from 2003 to 2006. He is a Registered Professional Engineer, and has worked in project engineering and management at Drummond Limited in Colombia from 1995 to 1998.
