In 2012, Industrial Design graduate student Laura Salisbury was studying abroad at the University of Delft in the Netherlands, when she and a classmate saw an advertisement for a design competition. She and Stina Vanhoof entered and won a prize for best brand recognition, and was later featured in the industry magazine, Verpakken.
According to Ms. Salisbury, "this design challenge was to create a collection of retail displays at three price points, designed for premium salts in the Metro "Fine Foods" line. More specifically, the design needed to be easily shipped and assembled in the store as well as be a sustainable solutions. Our solution drew inspiration from local outdoor markets and utilized the recent trend of using reclaimed pallets in furniture design as a bases for our final concept."
