Christopher W. Jones, New-Vision Professor in the Georgia Tech School of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering, received the 2013 Curtis W. McGraw Research Award from the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). The award was presented to Jones at the Engineering Research Council (ERC) Forum in Washington, D.C., on March 4.

In an effort to encourage the continued productivity and success of researchers throughout their careers, the Curtis W. McGraw Research award was established in 1957 to recognize significant achievements by young researchers in engineering. Qualified candidates must demonstrate research activity in fields ordinarily studied by engineering colleges or institutes as well as achieve engineering advances that emphasize productive thinking and a promise for notable contributions in the future. The annual award, which is sponsored by the ERC with the assistance of the McGraw-Hill Book Company

Jones’s nomination outlined his advances in the design and application of amine-based solid adsorbents for carbon dioxide removal from gas streams, as well as for work on supported palladium catalysts.
