Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) "aren’t like the existing structures we know—they are neither traditional lecture courses nor traditional distance-learning models. The 'massive' component changes every aspect of what we are attempting to do and requires innovative approaches, especially for a course on freshman composition," writes Karen Head, assistant professor in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication. She is writing a regular guest column as she helps develop a MOOC for first-year writing. Source: The Chronicle of Higher Education, February 21, 2013
