IPaT proudly participated in the Midtown Alliance annual meeting at The Fox Theater on February 20th. The theme for this year’s event was “Create theFuture”, and the program featured presentations by community leaders, including City of Atlanta Mayor, Kasim Reed, Midtown Alliance President and CEO, Kevin Greene, and President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Dennis Lockhart, who shared their thoughts on the growth and future of Midtown.

IPaT Executive Director, Beth Mynatt, also gave a presentation which highlighted how Atlanta’s institutional anchors, such as Georgia Tech, Emory University, and SCAD, are helping to drive innovation in Midtown. She discussed how projects like the Georgia Tech High Performance Computing Center for Modeling and Simulation and the Georgia Proton Treatment Center, as well as organizations like the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) andFlashpoint, are cultivating an ecosystem of innovation within the community.

Other representatives from Georgia Tech who were featured during the program included Steve Cross, Executive Vice President of Research, Ron Hutchins, Chief Technology Officer, Stephen Fleming, Vice President and Executive Director of Enterprise Innovation Institute, and Clint Zeagler, Research Scientist from the School of Industrial Design.

IPaT will be hosting a follow-up event on April 17th at the Technology Square Research Building at Georgia Tech. The event invites attendees to tour Georgia Tech’s labs and see first-hand demonstrations of technology and applications being developed for our Midtown community.
