Summaries

Summary Sentence: Applications for the fast track of the IDEX Fellowship are due January 25.

Full Summary: The IDEX Fellowship is for graduating students and recent grads who want to launch a career in social enterprise. Students can apply for the "Fast Track" application through the Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship.

Are you interested in launching a career in social enterprise?  If so, you may want to consider taking advantage of a new opportunity available to Georgia Tech students.

Our university was recently selected as a “Fast Track Partner” for the IDEX Accelerator, a program that assists young, aspiring social entrepreneurs in launching their careers.  Each year IDEX invites 100 aspiring professionals (called IDEX Fellows) from every corner of the globe to India to participate in an intense, six-month “residence-in-training” with a social enterprise.  The program offers participants intense field experience and leadership training curriculum while they work in the field with a social enterprise.  Although the program is only 6 months long, organizers claim that the accelerator “equips fellows with the equivalent of 2 years of marketable work experience that’s relevant to social enterprise employers.”

As a “Fast Track Partner,” Georgia Tech is able to send 2 candidates to the IDEX committee for full scholarship consideration.

The Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship, housed in the Scheller College of Business, will be managing the Fast Track partnership for Tech and selecting the students that will be recommended to the selection committee. Interested students can contact Dori Pap for more information on the Tech partnership, or view the IDEX brochure to learn more about the program.

After receiving all applications in January, the IDEX selection committee will choose 100 fellows and place them in the sub-sectors of education, finance, agriculture, energy, health, and water, all in India. Fellows will then use their education and skills to address social and economic challenges for underserved populations. While on assignment, they may focus on developing strategic plans and new business models, developing financial management plans, leading market research, launching new products, or initiating community development programs.

After successful completion, Fellows will earn a Professional Certi¬fication in Social Enterprise from the Monterey Institute of International Studies, with endorsement from Gray Matters Capital, an industry leader and well recognized impact investor in the social enterprise sector.

The regular (not fast track) application period for IDEX closes on January 31.

All applicants should submit their reference letters to hr@idexfellows.com.
