There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

"Computational Modeling of Modulation of Sphingolipid Metabolism by FTY720"
Sphingolipids play important physiological and pathological roles. Sphingolipid levels are controlled by a complex metabolic network. We have constructed a computational model of this network which allows for investigation of the effects of the immunomodulator FTY720 on sphingolipid metabolism in different cell types. The model results have important implications for potential therapeutic modulation of sphingolipid metabolism in many diseases.

"Quantitative Screening of Novel Therapeutics to Treat Osteoarthritis"
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a large clinical burden with no interventions to modify disease progression. We evaluated two prospective disease modifying treatments in a surgically induced rat model of OA. This study demonstrated that EPIC-µCT has the sensitivity to evaluate the efficacy of OA therapies. The overall outcomes of this study will have a direct impact on the throughput for screening novel OA therapeutics in pre-clinical models.
