The psychologists in the Counseling Center stay very busy working with our students. This semester alone they have seen a 7.5 percent increase in new students compared to fall 2011. But their work is never done. This semester several Counseling Center staff members have extended their reach beyond Tech's campus.
Dr. Mack Bowers presented a workshop entitled "Integrating Spirituality into Multicultural Training" at the Association of Counseling Center Training Agencies (ACCTA) Annual Conference in Baltimore, Maryland last October. Dr. Bowers also recently hosted the annual Georgia Psychological Association (GPA) Internship seminar that involved all the doctoral interns from around the state, and three of the Georgia Tech Counseling Center intern alumni presented.
Dr. Kenneth Frontman, representing the Addiction Advisory Council of Jewish Family & Career Services, presented along with Daniel Krasner on "Substance Abuse and Raising Kids" to the Adult Education of Congregation Dor Tamid in Duluth, Georgia. In addition, Dr. Frontman also presented on "The Disease Model of Addiction" to a comprehensive panel of Atlanta Metro Clergy.
Dr. Kimber Shelton was recently selected by Dr. Shannon Hodges, Associate Professor of Counseling at Niagara University, to be featured on the Niagara University Graduate Education website as a 'Notable Alumnus' for her accomplishments since graduating from Niagara University.
