On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the opening of the Architecture Building at Georgia Tech by architects Bush-Brown, Gailey, and Heffernan in 1952, the College of Architecture recreated the exhibition A Half Century of Architectural Education 1906-1956,  originally mounted in 1956.

The Georgia Tech School of Architecture is also planning a companion exhibition in Spring 2013, and for this we need the help of our alumni.

As an homage and celebration of the staying power of this fine piece of architecture, we are appealing to the alumni and alumnae of this School, to submit for an exhibition examples of the work and projects they have helped realize and ones that have been proposed that they feel demonstrate the influence of the Heffernan Building in your own design work. Better still, we would like them to send us projects they feel continue and extend conversations and design sensibilities stimulated by working in this, the first modern school of architecture building in the United States.

We believe that the work submitted will help us better understand the ripple effects that a Georgia Tech architectural education has had over the last six decades. We also plan to use these submissions as the first phase of a project to build a digital archive and search-able database of the built and unbuilt work of the alumni of this school. We think word of mouth will be very important to the success of this effort, so please spread the word.

We have established a simple platform to allow you to submit your work for this exhibit.  Before January 31, please go to http://www.arch.gatech.edu/alumni-exhibit to register and submit your work.

If you have questions, ideas, or concerns, please be in touch with Lucie André, at 404-894-1095 or via email, and she can lend a hand or put you in touch with the right person.

We look forward to seeing you at the opening, March 28, 2013.
