Full Summary:

Ah, yes, the holidays are upon us and the excitement permeates the air. From the twinkling lights to the jammed packed parking lots at the mall, it is difficult not to get consumed by the holidays. As a mother of two small children, I have grown to resent television commercials and have made it my mission in life to help them understand that the holiday season is not ALL about the "stuff." Rather it is a time to reflect upon what really matters most - family, friends, goodwill towards others and remembering for what we are thankful. While my work at home may be cut out for me, I am delighted to share with you a few insights from our staff in the Division about for what they are thankful.

This holiday season, I will be most thankful for my family and friends. My wife and twin 17 year old girls are the center of my life and are the individuals that I share my closest thoughts and feelings with. I will reflect on the good health of my family and will be thankful for my fulfilling career in Student Affairs and all the wonderful staff I have learned from and worked with over the last 40 years, especially those at Georgia Tech that I have come to know over the last 8 years. There is much to be thankful for.

-Dr. Bill Schafer, Vice President for Student Affairs

This year I am thankful for having a healthy, happy family and for being blessed with the most adorable little girl with the biggest blue eyes!
-Colleen Riggle, Assistant Dean of Students/Director of Women's Resource Center

I'm thankful that our students are getting jobs!

-Ralph Mobley, Director of Career Services

I have so much to be thankful for, but I am especially grateful for my wonderful husband, and one-of-a-kind friends and family who are a constant source of inspiration and support to me.  I'm also thankful for all the life-changing experiences that have taken place this year including getting married, buying our first home, adopting our first puppy together, and continuing our travels around the globe!

-Dedra Gillett, Business Manager, Office of the Arts

In this time of reflection and appreciation, I give thanks for my extended and immediate family and for being a member of the Georgia Tech family and interacting with all the wonderful Tech students for the past ten years that have given me much to be thankful for both professionally and personally.
-John Stein, Dean of Students/Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs

This year has been very eventful for my family taking trips, participating in weddings, and making lasting memories together! In the midst of it all, I am most thankful for my health and the close relationships in my life, especially with my husband Andrew and our two children, Lauryn and Justyn.
