There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

Thad Starner is the Director of the Contextual Computing Group in the College of Computing and is a Technical Lead/Manager on Google's Project Glass. His research creates computational interfaces and agents for use in everyday mobile environments. He is known to combine wearable and ubiquitous computing technologies with techniques from the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), pattern recognition, and human computer interaction (HCI).
From designing assistive technology with the deaf community to his main project CopyCat , a game which uses American Sign Language recognition to help young deaf children acquire language skills, he continually develops new interfaces for mobile computing (and mobile phones) with an emphasis on gesture. Currently, he is exploring mobile interfaces that are fast to access, like wristwatches.
