What does the German capital look like 23 years after the fall of the wall? Why is this bustling metropolis advertising itself as “poor but sexy”? Because it is!!! Get updated on why Berlin has become Europe’s hot spot for creative industries, fashion labels and IT start-ups. Witness Berlin’s metamorphosis from the capital of the Cold War to Europe’s cradle of democracy – and learn about the unchanging nature of native Berliners, now the city’s minority and almost an extinct species!

A reception will follow the event. RSVP by Monday, November 5th to the Goethe-Zentrum of Atlanta.

Dr. Andrea Mehrländer is a native of Berlin and has been working as the Executive Director of Berlin’s Checkpoint Charlie Foundation since 2001. Dr. Mehrländer is specialized in 19th Century North-American History and has conducted her main research on Immigration History, the American Civil War and Slavery.
