There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

"Automated Screening of C. elegans Using Image Processing Algorithms and Microfluidic Devices"
C. elegans is an excellent model organism for genetic screens because of the large number mutants and transgenic strains. However, conventional screening methods are labor intensive, and greatly benefit from high throughput technologies like microfluidics. In addition, saturating screens normally takes years, requiring countless manual operations. Automated screening platforms provide an opportunity to overcome this bottleneck.

"Partnered Human-robot Stepping based on Interactive Forces at the Hand"
Rehabilitative partner dance has been shown to improve balance and gait skill for people with Parkinson’s disease. We hypothesized that the humanoid robot Cody could be led by the hand during partner dance. Cody was able to successfully follow 10 expert dancers in a forward/backward walking step using only haptic feedback at the hands. Subjective and objective measures of dance performance were altered when changing properties of the robot.
